Assessing lounge furniture with yes armrests and upholstered upholstery
An arrival lounge is experienced as a sequence rather than a static furniture arrangement. Someone enters, identifies a waiting place, sits, and later leaves with a host. Review the upholstered seating and arm placement at each stage. A clear view of the group from the entrance helps explain its intended use, while the approach to each seat determines how people enter it. The presence of upholstery does not establish a particular covering composition or care method. Likewise, the presence of arms should not be taken as confirmation of a fixed configuration.
Relate arm placement to the greeting point
Identify where a host will normally approach a visitor. Then examine whether the seat orientation allows an understandable exchange from that direction. An arm outline can affect how someone turns toward a standing person or leaves the seating position, so assess the actual relationship rather than relying on a front view. Consider the neighboring seat as well: the greeting should not require a host to stand in another visitor's approach. Where the room has several arrival directions, review the seating from each one and identify which positions serve each route most clearly.
