HAY Crate Lounge Chair

HAY Crate Lounge Chair

The HAY Crate Lounge Chair is a lounge chair made from lacquered pinewood, designed for people looking for straightforward, wood-based seating with fixed armrests. Its defining difference is its unupholstered, cushion-free construction: the pinewood remains visible, while the simple, non-adjustable setup keeps the chair’s features clear and uncomplicated.

Lacquered Pinewood Lounge Design

Lacquered pinewood forms the chair’s material identity, including its wooden base. This gives buyers a clear alternative to upholstered lounge seating and makes the chair suitable when a visible wood finish is part of the furniture choice. Listed base color options include red, wood, transparent, black and white.

The Crate collection name and the chair’s wood construction make it easy to identify as a wooden lounge chair rather than a task or adjustable office chair. With no upholstery and no cushion, there is no fabric surface to consider when planning a seating area; the product data does not specify a separate cushion option.

Its lacquered pinewood finish is the material detail to consider when coordinating it with other furniture. If you want a chair with textile upholstery, a padded cushion or a choice of finish materials, those features are not included in this model’s specifications.

Fixed Arms and Simple Seating

Fixed armrests provide a defined place to rest your arms while seated, without adding adjustable parts or controls. The chair has no mechanism, and neither the seat height, back height nor seat depth can be adjusted. It is therefore best considered when a fixed seating position meets your needs, rather than when you require a chair to adapt to different users.

The product information lists no lumbar support or headrest, so it does not offer those specific ergonomic features. Its lounge-chair format and fixed construction make it a choice for relaxed seating, not a substitute for an office chair with adjustable support. The listed maximum ballast is 135 kg, giving a practical capacity reference when selecting the chair.

No upholstery or cushion means the sitting surface is not padded by fabric or a supplied seat pad. Consider this distinction if cushioning is important for the way or length of time you plan to use a lounge chair; a cushion is not included with this product.

Crate Lounge Chair for Seating Areas

The HAY Crate Lounge Chair can be considered for office or other seating areas where a lounge chair is wanted and a fixed, unupholstered wooden seat is appropriate. Its straightforward specification helps buyers compare it with upholstered lounge chairs and adjustable office seating, while its listed color choices offer several ways to coordinate the base with a room.

HAY lists the chair as circular and provides a two-year warranty. These details are useful points of comparison when choosing furniture, alongside the pinewood material, fixed armrests and stated weight capacity. Origin information is available on request.
